.影片片名“圣安德烈亚斯断层”是指贯穿美国加州的断层，长约1287千米，洛杉矶、旧金山等大城市都在这个断裂带上。其存在时间已经超过二千万年，有地震学家认为这是由于一次巨大的地震造成的。
.好莱坞此前也拍摄过“圣安德烈亚斯断层”之上的城市发生大地震的电影，比如1974年的经典《大地震》（Earthquake）还有艾莫里奇的《2012》。
.尽管在片中饰演父女，但扮演父亲的岩石强森(1972年生)只比女儿亚历珊德拉·达达里奥(1986年生)大14岁。
.这部影片是古奇诺继《巫山历险记》《极速复仇》后与强森的第三次合作。导演佩顿此前执导过强森主演的《地心历险记》第二部，并且计划拍摄第三部。
